What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?................................................................................................................................................................
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a modern approach to a powerful means of helping people.
It takes recent understandings of how the brain works, ideas from a form of communication psychology called Neuro-linguistic Programming, and a modern view of the every day nature of trance (ever daydreamed your way through a meeting or a car journey?) and weaves them into an approach that can achieve amazing results in a short space of time.
Probably everybody would benefit from some therapy – but most people don't need much, and this approach is geared to helping people get the results they want – usually in less time than they might expect. This is very different from the traditional idea of watching a swinging watch or losing control - sometimes it doesn't even involve you closing your eyes for more than a few seconds. Cognitive Hypnotherapists act as guides to help you find the best way to the solution of your issue - so it's an active collaboration because we think that everyone has everything they need to solve the problem, they just need help finding it.
Traditional hypnotherapists tend to use a 'one size fits all' approach to treat their clients, working from a set script for a certain problem. Therefore, everyone wanting to stop smoking, for example, would hear the same set words during their hypnosis sessions. This approach may be effective in some instances perhaps more by luck than design; whilst in other people, it may have little or only limited effect. As a Quest Institute trained therapist I combine cognitive hypnotherapy and NLP techniques and that means I can then individualise your treatment plan to best suit your needs. From the information you give me, we can work together to find the best solution to your problem. This will include specific tailor made hypnotic suggestion patterns using Wordweaving™ a powerful method for creating hypnotic suggestions, so that your treatment can be successfully completed in the shortest time possible.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy?
The term Clinical Hypnotherapy is a bit confusing because 'Hypnotherapy' means the use of hypnosis in a clinical setting, so putting 'clinical' in front of it is a bit unnecessary - but it sounds good.
The traditional, mainstream approach uses the description Clinical Hypnotherapy to describe an approach which tends to use scripts to treat the problem and relies on the ideas of the therapist rather than the resources of the client. Cognitive Hypnotherapists treat the person, not the problem, so will create a hypnotic language pattern based on the information they get from the client, and tailor their approach individually. ................................................................................................................................................................ |
